EuroReef RS125 for a 125g tank?

(Note: Sorry - wrong title - should say RS 135, not RS 125)

I've had it with our Coralife SS220. Also, we're about to get rid of our MegaSump and replace it with a custom made sump with fuge from a really high quality lfs nearby. (A sump that doesn't require removing the tank to place the sump as the MegaSump does... gee, there's a poor design, huh?)

A EuroReef RS135 was the recommended skimmer for our 125. Thoughts, opinions, pointers?

I like the design (of course, after the SS220, that's not a huge leap of faith), including stuff like the ability to remove the cup to empty it, without having to turn off the skimmer, the slide-up-and-down adjuster for skimmate thickness and level, and the fact that it doesn't seem to need an air pump - one less breakable part, one less use of power, etc. Seems like a good design. Yes?

Yes the Euro reef RS-135 is a good skimmer for your tank. You might want to check out Deltec on the upper end and ASM for a little less than the Euro I believe. If you go with the Euro or the ASM-G3 Its a good idea to get the mod they have for the stand pipe (?) Its a gate valve that allows you to fine tune things and works really well. Are you locked in to your custom sump yet?

 

Pretty much locked in - going to give the final go-ahead on Monday. I don't have time for DIY or install, plus I can;t take my existing one out without mostly draining the tank, and having 3 or 4 guys slide the tank off the current base to get it out, since it only comes out the top of the stand. We;re also getting a custom stand. Again, unsure of the 3Reef rules, I'll PM you the url of the lfs that's doing it. Gary and Becky have given me a thumbs up, so I'll get your opinion on that as well.

Go larger on your skimmer if you can.

Bigger is better in this case and well if your pockets can take the hit as well.

The Euro Reef RS135 is nice none the less but its only rated for Average Load 135 gal Heavy Load 100 gal, the next model up would prolly be better for ya if you plan on stocking it up nice, especially with tangs as they are sloppy eaters and create mega wastes...
