Yup been there done that more than once. I actually did throw the tank away one of those times. I try to just let the moment pass as you did.

Been there.... Had hair algae sooo bad, I wanted to pretend my tank didn't exist and I would actually hide it from guests by putting a blanket on it! Unfortunately I didn't take any pics to remember it by...

My living room walls have definitely heard some nasty things being shouted from time to time.

Yep. 8 months of brown and growth-less corals was wearing thin on me. Glad things finally rebounded.

Absolutely, I think everyone has been there multiple times because problems usually come with the hobby. The best thing you can do IMO is walk away and clear your head before making things worse. This is the best place to be when you have trouble. I've been helped more times than I can count by just posting pics and my issues on here. The amount of knowledge/experience on this site can help overcome any problems you might run into.

When we moved our 14 tanks about 3 years ago, I would have GIVEN them away I was so tired of them!

I like it much better having 5 tanks now (2 DT's and 3 growout tanx).

    Yep, that. lol

I'm typically very patient and persistent, but after the third year of not being able to grow anything but a GHA jungle, I consolidated my rocks and livestock into one tank, gave it away (yes, for FREE), then set up the remaining tank as freshwater for a couple of years.

there have been many of these times, my main source of frustration usually comes with the aqua-scape. if i could go back and do it all over i would definitely silicone or glue my rock work together, too many times a snail tumbled a rock over and trying to put it back caused several other parts of my aqua-scape to tumble down.

this in turn disturbs the sand bed (though iv never lost anything to it, knock on wood), it doesnt look as nice as it initially did and worst of all can scratch your glass if not worse.

so yes i have yanked a fair amount of hair off my cranium due to my tank but remember you owe to the living animals in your tank to make em happy. and in return they will repay you with their crazy personalities and with coral growth BOOYA!!! personally there is nothing i find more gratifying than having a coral grow.
