I have a colony of zoas that a dipped last week. The polyps have remained closed for most of that time, but I noticed this evening that some, not all, of the zoa polyps changed from a neon green to a bright orange color. I believe one is polyp now red (hard to tell as it's mostly retracted).

It sounds odd to me, but with the brilliance of nature these days it dont think it would be impossible.

As long as they seem to be happy and starting to open up I think there should be no issues with them changing colour.

Not uncommon for Zoa's to morph.;)

Interesting and slightly disappointing. I hope they don't "morph" into the same color as my other colony. I liked the contrasting colors.

I'll be sure to post pictures once the colony fully opens again.

Sometimes corals change colors for other reasons as well. Your water chemistry may be different than from they were living and your lighting also may be different. As I'm sure you know, a tank with LEDs may look quite different, even a different color, than a tank lit with MHs. I've seen coral colors change on other people's tanks because of these differences. Or, maybe they're changing colors just to annoy you.

my first coral was a light green zoa. It was under leds when I bought it. When I took it home to my power compacts it developed a purple ring.
