You'll think I'm such a dork for this, but I just thought it was amazing. I have my lights on timers where the white lights come on first, then the blue lights a little later. My timers got messed up and I thought I had them reset, but this morning the blue lights came on first. Everything in the tank was fluorescent! It was the coolest looking thing. My ricordea mushrooms were just amazing, and the frogspawn and starburst were glowing a fluorescent green. The Armour of God zoa was INCREDIBLE. My other zoas were glowing neon colors. Anyway, still showing my never ending newbie-ness in this amazing hobby. :)

I'm just curious why do you have the actinics coming on after the white lights? I've just never heard of that before. Many people (not me) have the actinics come on first and the whites turn off first at night so as to make a dawn and dusk type of thing. And yes, it is cool looking when only the actinics are on :)

now you know why most of us start the day and finish it on just actinics
as you say - it shows some of the corals really beautifully - you got any GSP ? as thats another incredible one under just the blue lamps

I guess I just never thought to ask which order you turn the lights on/off. Come to think about it, I didn't have anything to "glow" either until probably in the last 2 months.

I had that same moment- it's like seeing a new aquarium! I can see my ric's glowing orange from across the room. Gives us a reason to sit in the dark and watch the tank:eek:

I have my actinics come on an hour before the white, and then stay on an hour after the other lights.

That is the way my LFS said to set up the lights so I have a dawn/dusk effect. I'm not sure if it makes sense since sun light during dawn and dusk is red... but it looks cool!

If you have MH, why don't you just have all actinics? That's kind of the point with MH fixtures that have T5 or PC, to supplement with actinic lighting.
