Evil 6 Line Wrasse Destroyed my Firefish!

I bought a 6 Line Wrasse and a Fire Fish last weekend to add to my pair of Clown Fish. They were getting along fine until yesterday and my wife called and told me that the 6 Line was harrassing my Fire Fish. When I got home the Fire Fish was pretty messed up, its top fin was gone, and his tail was shredded. I took it back to the store and they put it in quarantine. It will probably die. I want more fish for my tank, but I dont want the 6 Line to kill it! They suggested a Royal Gamma, they said it is peacefull, but wont take any crap from a punk ass 6 Line. So I got it, and so far so good. The good thing is that the Royal Gamma is alot bigger. They also Suggested a long nosed Hawkfish. Any other suggestions to put in my tank that will work with the fish I have?

 

Pretty much all species under the Pseudocheilinus genus are known for being bullies. Some specimens are completely intolerant of any tank mates.

 

I am sorry that you are having to deal with the 6 line. I almost thought about getting one and am glad that I did not.

 

IMO you should trade in the 6 line if you have any more problems with it rather than find new potential victims.

 

hmm my six line is pretty chill iv got him with a fire fish as well and clowns iv never seen him chase fish or anthing. sorry for your luck though i normally trade the bully fish in also

He's not evil, just misunderstood. A Hawkfish wouldn't take his crap and will tolerate a lot. Course after that you'd most likely discover the Hawk would be the evil one to any new fish you put in there. I have a 6 line who for about a week tried to kill my mandarin. The only reason she is alive is the fact that she had forests of macro's to hide in til he got used to her. Your next tank you should sit down and plan out what fish you are getting in order from passive to aggressive. It will alleviate these problems and also keep you from spending money on that random awesome fish your LFS just got in.

 

5 fish may be a good limit in that size tank. I know it is a figure of speech but really I don't think there are "evil" fish, they are what they are, although I had an undulated Trigger that neared your "evil" label.
