I just got a wonderful little pair of Solomon island ocellaris clowns today and I have this big damsel which I have been considering taking out, but I just haven't yet. Well the little devil is beating up my clowns and he needs to go. I tried catching him with a net and a hook with shrimp bait. Net=failure. He would bite the hook but not enough to stay on and now he is cautious. ANY ideas?

Damsels are super fast. I actually had to remove most of the rock work to get the guy out. The damsel was beating up on my clown too(and everything else for that matter). It was only a 20 gallon so no too much rock work but if you have something bigger it will probably be a PIA. Have you tried any of the fish traps?

you can build a fish trap out of a used pop bottle, youtube it, pretty easy, although didn't work for me, I ended up removing the rockwork to get mine. good luck and spread the word to not let a LFS sell ya one. They are satan.

Yeah when my brother cycled our 55gal we put a 4 stripe damsel that was born in hell we had to make a mini harpoon to dispose of him. this one although may be big for the traps I have. He's probably near 3 in. This one was an accident as we brought him home in a dead horse conch and we were already docked when we found him. I have an already made fish trap like that. doesn't work. thanks though!

I might have to make another harpoon.... :p last time we used a pencil, rubber band, and three tiny bent hooks worked well though. Maybe politically correct people say it's wrong to harpoon them, but I would have to kill him anyways my Lfs do not take fish unless they are special.

    This is not responsible husbandry.

It's a damsel, they are aggressive. They are not at your disposal to cycle your tank with and then destroy.
