What about placing a piece of wood across the top but inside the canopy out of site that you can mount the fans pointing up to delect the heat? I have a full canopy on my 220 and I have 2 larger fans in the top of it pointing striaght up. The tepm in my tank is a constiant 78. I have a mag 18 for my protien skimmer in the as well as 2 marineland 5500 series pumps for my returns to the dt in the sump. Heat has always been a concern of mine as I also have the mh lights too. I would try to get your fans pointing up as this it the best way to get the heat out. I evaporat about 2 gallons a day when I run all the fans if its hot. If Its not hot I run about 1/2 gallon a day.

you can get 2 clip on fans from walmart and added the to the canopy and your chiller should barely run after those. thats what I did I had to remove one as water was staying @ 75 with one it hits 79 no problems and maintains it there.

Yes i agree,, put some type of vent holes on top and then maybe even add one fan on the least visable side to push fresh air into canopy. this will help push HOT air up to vents and out the open back.
