Which of these "budget" lights would you get? Do you think is best?
    no diy stuff, please.

can they compete with AIs new price?

    Hello,

It's great to finally see ApolloreefLEDs name at 3reef. I am old school MN guy and was looking for LEDs to go with my MHs for my new build. I looked and read for several months regarding LEDs and finally went with Apollo. I don't have my system running yet so lights are still in the boxes but i can tell you they are quality built with two heat sinks, (3) fans and quality LEDs and per Joes videos great par readings. Mine will be going on a 300 gallon @ 30" deep with different elevation rock work. I asked a couple of long time 3reefers to check out Apollos site and let me know what they think but never heard from them. The reviews seem really good and i know his last order was 500 units so they are saleing, just will take time for word of mouth.

    Good luck with your search:)

After researching and asking questions on various forums I think the Apollo is the best "bargain" fixture. Good leds, pretty good heatsinks, if one led goes out the rest will still light. now with moonlights, dimmer coming soon and a good enclosure.
But with AI Sol at 399 is it still a "bargain"? it's 399 too!!!

If you go Apollo i can tell you they are way better in person. Spending that kind of money without being able to touch or see in person is not easy. So when they came and i opened the box WoW:eek: quality built for sure. I pluged one in over my tank but with no water all it did was light up the flooring below(IT DID LOOK COOL) i know what a rookie. I can't wait to see them with my MHs but still a few months away:cry: I still know very little regarding LEDs but from what i have read, seen both in person and online i believe Apollo is buildng a nice fixture.
I bought two and got them at a good price(won bids ebay), check with Joe he may save you some cash if buying two or more.

i'm thinking they can't compete with AI. AI uses Cree and has great programmability, reliabilty, service for 399 now.

The Apollos do look like nice budget fixtures, but the way the case is designed still puts it in a different class from the AI SOL. It's hard to argue with AI's new pricing.

Lots of LEDs/ Apollo Leds have Bridgelux 3 watt power chips, driven at 2.5 watts with 60 degree optics. They have 12k,15k and 20k A little FYI. I am new to LED lighting and know i have a quality product, as there is aways a faster gun8)
