PROP auctions are fun. Sold my stuff, came home with this frag and $110 in my pocket. :)

Shhhh, don't let Trent hear! J/k. LED definently needs some help over most commercial fixtures but I love the progress the industry in making. Hunter you paved the way for DIY and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Thanks Alex. I was speaking to Trent last night and it was actually a topic that came up. And when I told him what I told him, I realized I've probably never outright said it here. I actually really like MHs. I still think they're pretty darn tough to beat for coral coloration. But I do think LEDs can get you really close if you know what you're doing.

The reason I won't ever have MHs is the heat. Well, unless I somehow end up in cooler part of the country. I refuse to run a chiller, and there's no practical way to keep a tank cool here in Phoenix if you're running MHs w/o a chiller, unless you're willing to crank the AC waaaayyyy down. But then you'll see your electric bill >$400, easily. So I'm willing to sacrifice just a little in color for a sane electricity consumption.

I agree 100 percent. I live in Montana and in he summers I worry about heat so im there. Honestly and light I look at HAS to compare well to a Phoenix 20k or I pass lol. Also, I like to push his buttons because I'm a jerk ;-) That chalice is really nice! Big piece great color.

Won it for $47. Easily a $125 or more piece on the open market. :p

I'm seriously considering a new tank... Spoke to my favorite LFS yesterday, and getting some quotes on a few Deep Sea Aquatics tanks here in short order. Also measuring around the living room to see if rearranging things might make sense. If I can put a new tank in a new location as opposed to the same location I'm using now, this suddenly gets much more appealing.

The sizes I had in mind, prior to visiting the LFS yesterday:

    60x24x24
    48x30x24

But Deep Sea has an off-the-shelf that's 60x27x27. So I bet the price on that will win; we shall see. If I do it, I'll want starfire on the front & sides too. As I've got a couple vacations coming up at the beginning and end of September, I'm probably looking at a very early October time frame.

    Anyways, in the meantime, these:

    Cirrhilabrus nahackyi

    Paracheilinus angulatus

    Arriving Saturday.

I've tired of waiting on some C. johnsoni. But if course buying
these will probably make them soon available. :p

The 60x27x27 sounds better dimension wise than the other two mentioned. 48 is on the short side and 24 isn't wide enough IMO. Although the extra few inches in height and width will make reaching those back corners that much more difficult, unless you are 7' tall :D

Congrats on the new wrasses! The johnsoni should come around. Have you also checked with Pacific Island Aquatics besides Live Aquaria?

Yeah, it's the 27" tall I'm not too crazy about; mine's 26" right now. And I'm 6'2", so stretching to those corners is possible.

Yup; I have a good relationship with PIA. They should have already had some by now, but logistics beyond their control has prevented it (sorry, I won't discuss specifics). DD wants too much more them when they have them anyways.

Excellent dimensions! Love those deep looks.
The 60x27x27 sounds like the 250g marineland deep dimensions tank. My friend Jason has two of the DD 300g... It's a perfect size!
