I had a same problem before, when I set up the new tank. I used a filter stock in a sump where water from display tank falls down. It was resolved within a day. You may want to try it.
Are you planning to use Amber, Cyan, UV and etc for your LED? These LED color is under discussing in Japanese Reef forum.

Thanks! A sock (200 micron felt) is in tact, where the drain is.

I havent thought about adding different colors to the LEDs yet. I would like some cyan color tho. Which Japanese forum?

Do you know any online shops who carries 420nm 3W LED?

Carbon is really good at making your water crystal clear. I have never had a tank without carbon.

OOhh I have seen the site before.. Its not easy to browse around tho. Ill try looking into it. UV Led... no I do not know any with that specific wave length. I check SuperbriteLEDs once in a while but they dont seem to have the exact match.

My next DIY project is carbon then! LOL How do you feed your carbon and GFO? By the return? Your pump is on the way, by the way :)

Go with the Bulk Reef Supply Reactor to house and feed your carbon. That is by far the best I think and the most economical. I was using GFO, but now that I have my ATS online I have taken it down for the mean time to let the scrubber really take off. If you do go with the carbon and the GFO I would recommend using two singles and not the one dual. The reason for this is so that you can independently control the flow going to each reactor. The main reason that is nice is because over time the GFO will need to have a small increase in water flow in order to keep it tumbling, however carbon is best used when it can have a long contact time with the water source.

I have mine fed off the return but most just use a Maxi Jet to feed the reactor.

How often do you change/refill the carbon? How long would BRS's 1.5lbs last for you?

I need to refill I think. I have not set a schedule for it yet. The best kind of carbon is the rox. I got the small one to try it out and its working well.

I can't remember if you have a light fixture for the tank yet? BUt I know the Mu-153 LED fixture uses 40nm(UV) in it. I think you can play around with the timer settings. You would need two of these though. $400 a pop. Orphek might also be a great option; they have the 420nm led in a few of their lighting options available.
