LOL. Took me forever to convince (brainwash?) mine to buy the MP40 for me as well. Now she plays with it all day. Eventually it worked out, I guess.

    Just caught up... looking good!

As for the carbon, I run BRS carbon and GFO... carbon in a sock that I throw in my bubble trap, ensuring the water flows through it instead of around. GFO I run in a reactor to ensure it's slightly tumbling at the surface.

I use ~1.25 cups of carbon, replacing bi-weekly. 1.5 pounds should last you a few months. I use 1.5 cups GFO, replacing every 4-8 weeks, I can usually tell when it's starting to get exhausted... tank doesnt look as clean.

Wish I could convince my boss to get an MP40... I dont even dare mention it...:-/

Hey! Glad you caught up! LOL

Thanks for the GAC and GFO tip! I think Im gonna take the BRS route as well.

I love your coral selection. The pink candy cane is amazing! I SOMETIMES envy the So-Cal LFS environment. I used to live in OC, but no fish tank at that time...

Actually, where I live there's no quality LFS. There is two, but one is rundown, and the other is very limited, overpriced, and offers no exchange/guarentee.

    Skimmer update

The SWC Xtreme Cone 160 skimmer is like this at the moment.

Made an adjustment, its sitting at 8.5" water level.

Is this fine? Considering the light bioload like mine?

This is just my opinion. You may want raise the water level in side of Skimmer. The waste is better to removed at a little bit higher place.

Thanks! But the brown gunk(?) around the top of the cone right below the neck is stuck on the inside wall, should I clean it? And if I raise the water level inside of the cone, it'll overflow from the top, I think.
