I use Nikon DSLR D90 body with following lenses:
-Nikkor 35mm f/1.8
-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
-Sigma 28-80 mm F/3.5-5.6 Macro

Yes good camera and lens can be expensive, but you could get decent used equipment these days. The D90 was refurbished, the macro off eBay was $40
