Nice shots. I always enjoy nice wrasse pictures, especially since I appreciate how hard those are to get. I only have mediocre pictures of my own, as that's the best I can manage. :-/

Has the dorsal spine always been short? If not, it'll grow back; who knows what chopped it off.

If it's always been short (which I suspect), it's because you've got a sub-male here. It'll get longer as this guy matures. He'll also get more colorful too. The anal fin looks a bit short to me right now as well; another sign which points to sub-male.

Thanks for the input, Hunter! I think he had a bit longer dorsal fin before when I got him, but nothing to worry about, sounds like. What do you think of a blue sided fairy for the next addition?

Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura? Fine from a compatibility standpoint, but realize there's a LOT of variation in this species in terms of color/pattern. Make sure what you're buying is what you want. If you order blindly, you may be surprised.

 

Ive noticed that when I googled it, so many variations! Yet Im not too picky about it, Alex says his LFS has a pretty one and he's heading this way soon, so..

 

Its very similar to mine, might be a bit prettier but hard to tell under their lights.

 

When I saw your blue sided fairy under your lights after theirs, I was blown away, seriously.
