Ok, you're going to have to share this trick, because hiding a $450 purchase on a credit card is something I have not figured out (or even attempted) to do yet.

She doesn't read this thread, right? :-X

The scary part is, I think she knows. The wave action is too awesome for both of us, she cant complain.

The trick is, you just keep talking how cool it is. Leaving some youtube vid of Vortech wave action open on purpose on the computer helped too.

Now Im working on the Apex Jr.

Lol, I think she'd just wrinkle her eyebrows and roll her eyes as she walks away mumbling something about not "needing" it... ::)

I'm seriously jealous of you... congrats!

    Sad update

Thanks both, but I have sad news to add...

The purple hammer died. Have no idea why. I had been trying to come up with the better spot for it since I got it, but I didnt move it. Looked like there was a bit too much current so, I kind of surrounded it with smaller rocks around it. Opened up nicely once, but didnt last. Im bummed and confused.

And having a cyano creep right in the middle of the tank. What does cyano need to survive? Phos? Been using the API test kit but it's never detectable. Oh and the Chaeto dissipated, but I see some pineapple sponges in the sump.

    Here is the param:
    Cal: 460
    Mag:1150
    Phos: 0
    Alk: 7
    pH: 8.2

Sorry to hear of the hammer loss. I've lost one due to brown jelly... I think everyone loses some coral at one point or another.

Cyano doesn't need much. Could be a spike in nutrients fromt the hammer dying. Have you had cyano before?

Cyano need Nitrates and Phosphates to survive. I didn't see Nitrates listed, and I would get another kind of test kit to compare your phosphates, preferably a Salifert or even better a Hanna checker. But at the same time, I will get tiny little out breaks of cyano in the strangest of places. Like on my koralia pump, or even on some zoas, like on the polyp itself. I think this is a flow issue, but that doesnt really make sense when its on my pump. I get completely baffled in this hobby all the time.
