^People dose vodka into their tanks to reduce nitrate and phosphate.

I see you building a 90 gallon setup, you should take a look at the 90 thread.

Ive read those threads and wow, mustve been a weird satisfaction to find the source, really. I wouldve thrown the rocks as far as possible saying "suckerz!!!" LOL

I just want the cyano gone really bad. Just ordered the BioPellets from BRS. See what happens.

Tomorrow (8/12), BRS BioPellet reactor is gonna come with pellets. How much would you guys suggest to start with?
The bioload is very light, a sailfin, 2 clowns, 2 skunks, a tiny RBTA, a few corals and such.
    SWC Xtreme 160 Cone Skimmer
    50lbs of live rock
    80lbs of sand

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

I am starting with a half dose (250ml) and increasing the dose as the pellets kick in. I am also vodka dosing, however, which will be reduced, and biopellets increased after a few weeks. If you are starting with a system that has low nitrates/phospahtes, you could probably start with 500-750ml.

.. the reactor holds ~350ml (from BRS site): would this be an issue?

I should probably go slow and adjust the amount as I go.

    Thanks!

    Is this ok??

Just installed the BRS BioPellet reactor. I put 1.5 cup (350ml) in the canister.
Im using a Maxi-Jet 1100 Utility Pump (294gph) to run it. My question is, if you could take a look at the vid I uploaded, is this too much flow? Or too little? Thanks in advance.

Mmm, the top layer of pellets should be tumbling as well. Otherwise they will bind and clog. I will take a video of mine and post it.
