This is the same picture above (in the post #313):

    Today (after 6 days):

As you can see, the purple is popping up! Woot!!

I didnt think of the BP related to this, but it's really possible, since Sacul mentioned it. It's really time to ditch the temporary Mag3, and upgrade to maybe the Rio 8HF or 10HF.

I think I have 420-ish ml running at the moment, since I have a tiny bit left from the 500ml BRS package (one cup is 236ml to be exact, so, I have a bit less than two cups).

And yup, do the MOD! LOL
Im about to order bigger return pump, I think Im gonna use the MagDrive3 to run the BP reactor. The BPs are starting to look "heavy," they will stop moving anytime. So if you plan to run Id say more than 400ml in the modded BRS reactor, Id suggest to run it with more than 300gph pump (the Mag3 is rated 350)

    Questions:
How do I lower the Mag? It's like off the chart high right now. (1500+) Also the pH is high too. (8.4) On the other hand, the KH is 6, Id like it to be a bit higher. I use the Coralife salt.

Thanks for the link. Im gonna read up on it today.
No, mag dosing. I dosed it a few months back, but all I did was water change when it comes to mag since then.

well the mag will lower itself over time. may take a while though

pH sounds okay as long as its not fluctuating much... could be due to any number of things but most likely because your alk is low and you are having less dissolved CO2 in your tank.

to bring up the alk you can also use just plain old baking soda. it doesnt take a lot so be careful. There are calculators all over the place online and i even think there is one here on 3reef. you will put in your gallons, specify baking soda, your initial level and your target level and the calculator will tell you how much baking soda to add to bring up your alk. also this will most likely lower your pH to about 8.2 if you just use plain old baking soda.

One thing to note however is that your concentrations of the big three are always related to each other... so higher mag means you can have higher Ca concentration. A little rounding here, but roughly put, your alk level will always be 3.1 times lower than your Ca and your Ca 3.1 times lower than your mag concentration. If one of the three fluctuates it will precipitate out the other two to make the ratios equal again. So i would recommend finding your Ca and then adjusting your alk accordingly.

    example:
    mag 1300ppm / 3.1 = 419.35ppm Ca
    419.35ppm Ca / 3.1 = 135.27ppm alk
    135.27ppm alk * 0.056 = 7.57 dKh alk

FYI, 1 tsp baking soda = 1 dKH rise in my 90, for a point of reference. Go slow.

    ^ thanks Dingo!!
The pH is not fluctuating. It kind of slowly went up to 8.4 in the last 2 months from 8.0. The thing is all I have for dosing alkalinity is BRS 2 part, the direction from the site said that it will raise the pH, so I was freaking out.
And the Ca is 420 at the moment. I dose the BRS 2 part as well. What does it mean now?

I have read that the mag will lower itself over time before, but I might have been adding the mag to the system through the regular water change. I will test the fresh made water tonight. So I really dont have to freak out at the moment? I can go flyfishing now?

Yes, sir, thank you. As much as I want to fix/adjust it fast, I WILL go slow.
