    Ask and you shall receive.

These pics are what I use to have, it got much worse then these pics. Got the GFO running for about a month. Then added the bio-pellets. All was gone but about 3% of it. The last is out the door. But....next post.

So now this is what I am dealing with.

If you notice its only on certain rocks. There are a couple side by side shots where one rock has the algae and the other does not.

In the picture with the green hammer those rocks have no algae on them.

I don't know if this was a mini bloom? But I'm not sure what would have caused it.

Are the rocks from the same place? I think you got most of them from BRS? Pukanis? Correct me if I was wrong.
I heard that Pukanis leach PO4 and I figured the reason why I was having cyano creep on certain rocks, they were all Pukanis from BRS!
Any critters are touching the algae (or whatever that thing is)?? Is PO4 and/or NO3 detectable?

Yes, BRS dry rock. all the same. Have not tested for PO4. heard the liquid tests are no good and do not have a Hanna checker. I haven't test for NO3 in about a month. I'll check it now.

I could never detect anything when I had cyano creep... time for checkers, I guess.

    I have reefcleaners dry rock.

I've had 0 NO3 and 0 PO4 for the last 8 months. I'm only using API liquid kits, which I know is part of the problem...

I'm really not that frustrated, I'm more curious as to what might have caused this, and if others see the same thing. I'll probably turn my original post into a seperate thread when I get a chance tomorrow.

For now, I just got back on the ground, so I'm going home and sleeping. :p

    Just wondering

Hey i was trying to file through all the pages of this thread to find out why you did what you did with the overflow and returns on your tank. I feel like it is a little extra work but for what reason? A friend of mine wants to do the same thing to a 220 were going to start working on and i just want to know the in's and out's of this variation. I am a fan of keeping things simple and it looks like this is a little complicated but also it looks like a pretty easy method once you get past the glass box fabrication and the plumbing. I just think having 5 pipes running to and from the back of your tank is a little cluttered.

I mean no offense or anything i just want to know the reasoning behind this method before we do something similar :D

Its a great build, and if i had the internet speed to actually finger through quickly and checkout everything i would have. I figured since youre an avid poster and youre keeping up with the thread i would just pose my question to you.

    Keep on keepin on!
