So you took the GFO off line, correct? Any change yet?

GFO is off line. I noticed in some older/newer pictures this: When GFO was running it took care of my major issue as show before. Then it was due for a water change/ time to renew GFO, did water change, not GFO, had bio pellet mod up and running well, decided to stop running GFO to see if the Bio- pellets would work and mainly because that maxi jet is so DAMN loud! I noticed that this new algae has started after I stopped running GFO.

Now could this be growing pains of a new tank with new dry rock or Bio Pellets not fully ripe? I don't know, but hope to find out by tanking the GFO offline.

Another note: nothing has really changed with the tank over the past few months.

I see... Thanks to the BP, in my case, cyano gone, algae film is getting minimal.

A fellow reefer had some questions about what I did with piping, here is the list of the parts:

There is an open view pic on the Bean site, if you open it, and read the following to make more sense. I try to list it in the order of water flowing.
-3x 1" elbows (slip/thread) Black is really hard to find locally. Ordered from Glass-holes.
-3x 1" bulkheads (thead/slip) Threaded is elbow side.
-3x 1" to 1.5" bushing (slip/thread) Bean's site says slip/slip, but it shouldve been slip/thead, because this way, you can separate the bulkheads and sanitary Ts. Mine CAN'T!
-3x 1.5" sanitary Ts (thread/slip, if you can find them, otherwise slip/slip)
-3x 1.5" adapters (slip/thread) These go between sanitary Ts and the top caps
    -3x 1.5" Top cap (thread)
-1x 1/4" John Guest fitting 90 degree elbow (thread, for the secondary drain) I didnt tap the cap above to fit this: I drilled a hole on the top cap and squeezed/glued the JG fitting. LOL
-1x 1/4" hose (for the secondary drain)
-10' 1.5" PVC (It was just enough for the whole build.)
-3x 1.5" Unions (I really recommend to use these. A lot easier to install/adjust the pipes)
-1x 1.5" Valve on the main drain (I dont think you need three valves like the Bean instruction on the site. Only the main pipe drains the water to the sump most of the time. But I really regret that I didnt use a gate valve. PITA to adjust the flow sometimes, only because I used a ball valve instead. )
-6x 1.5" 45 degree elbows (slip/slip) Ive seen people use 90 deg elbows but it should be 45 to let the water drain more smoothly, quietly.

I hope this clarify things a bit and helps other people.

    New add!

We added a hippo tang (his name is "H").

Movie below: H and cleaners are getting to know each other??

Still getting used to the tank, cute lil fella, I like him. Oh and the two shrimps are both prego..

There is some hair algae growing on the new rocks, but I dont think it's getting out of hand. Not too uncommon, correct?
