    pH fluctuation?

Yesterday, I finally hooked up the pH probe on the Apex Lite after calibration (used pH7 and pH10 liquid). Last 24 hours the pH gragh is like this:

I had no idea it fluctuates like this. Is this pretty normal?? I did not dose anything.
What are some of the factors that could affect pH?

Do you have a refugium? If you run chaeto you'll want to run your fuge light opposite of the DT lights to keep pH stable.

No I dont have a functioning fuge at the moment, I used to but never got to grow any macro before. They would just dissipate :(

Maybe I should give it a try again?

yeah! the alternating light times should keep your pH stable. the reason pH drops at night is because of lower oxygen levels.

8.2-8.4 from day to night doesn't seem like much of a swing to me, but I'm no expert. However, I am now not only jealous of your mp40's, but also you're apex controller. Had never seen how it charts stuff like that. Pretty bad ass bro 8)

can you adjust a return nozzle to create some surface agitation on the water? That and running a reverse light schedule in your sump might help? Even if there's not a fuge

Yeah, thanks Logan! The pH is always on the high side from the beginning. Ive been dosing alk to raise a bit once a week, but now I know it gets high like this, I have to go even slower.. There is nothing in the sump at the moment: Skimmer, a few pumps and thats it. I turn on the light in the cabinet so I can see.

I know about the reverse photo method, but the thing is never had luck with macroalgae so I kinda gave up..

The second MP40 was pure luck and thanks to the great customer service of EcoTech. The Apex Lite? Couldnt pass during the Black Friday sale..

(I know Alex is gonna say something about me "Showing off"..)
