Excellent Discussion on Whether or Not to Syphon Your Sand

I asked a question about my nitrates and several of the more experienced members got into a very interesting discussion about the pros and cons of syphoning the sand while doing a water change. I think it might be worthwhile for others to read. I have learned a lot.

I was just reading it and found it quite interesting. There seems to be conflicting opinions. I have always syphoned my sand because I thought it would be a good thing considering the amount of filth that ends up in the bucket.
