    I am starting a 45 gal w/ a 25 gal sump.

I got her running last night, everything is great flow wise but Im having clouding issues from my sand.

I did my best not to stir the sand but it did.

I have a very fine live sand. filter has been running for 24 hrs and its still pretty clouded.

I have a micron sock and a skimmer running,i also added a t shirt in the spill over into the return chamber it is helping but I dont know what else to do.

I have a trigger sump so I have a place for carbon if that may help, seems I need something finer than a micron sock

Please help I am really jonsing clear water

    Thanks

Just wait it out. All salt water tanks go through this. It's not really sand, but minerals your coral and inverts will need later.

Give it time to settle. Keep your flow going strong and let it all go through your filter and sump also.

    Patience is the key here.

My tank took a week and a half just keep rinsing your filter material.

I agree with others, you have to give it time to settle. A few things to keep in check.

Make sure your return or your powerheads are not stirring up your sand bed.

I in general don't like or use filter socks, but I do use them to filter stirred up sand and such. Just keep and eye on them. They clog up faster with sand. You run a risk of a mess if you don't clean them.

I have it down to a science now. On a really bad stirred up tank to where I can't see a thing, I can have it to 80% clear in about 3 hours.

Let us know how you make out.

I use 50micron filter pads to clear up dust and soot quickly.
