Not sure on the electric that much, I just read the spec on the 60" and it says it still uses 520W. Still not sure why they don't make these in strips instead of panels so you don't get that dead space between the lights. I am glad someone is pushing this technology once LED mature we won't have to wait years for it to hit the aquarium market.

They claim it uses 40% less energy and is about the same as 400 watt light...
Also saves a lot on not using chillers and room air contitioner. If bulbs ran 24/7 they would last 6 years. I bet it would save a lot. I may get one in about 6 months if all goes well from reviews and stuff. Maybe prices will come down a little.

from what I've read there is still a ton of issues with aquatic use LED's they still frequently burn out and they are so bright with so much water penetration dialing them in for corals can be difficult, + they are still relativley unproven with SPS and Clams, some have even said they have had issues with their LPS under LED's

Yeah,, I think that's why I'll wait a while. Although they claim "outstanding coral growth".

I wouldn't run out and buy one for my established tank with hundreds of dollars worth of coral.. I figure I'll be starting fresh it would give things an easier adjustment.

Yes well Billy May's Claims his magic epoxy will seal a pressure leak in a second and on a pressurized wet surface I say B/S ..

I have used these lights . 2 sets and they will not keep that many types of corals and forget about clams

How long did you use them?
