So my tank has been doing great, im getting a few dots of purple corraline on the glass, and a whole bunch of green algae is on there too, also corraline I think. So I had a snail die 2 days ago poor guy, 2 hermits and a nas were eating him in the moon light how romantic... skimmer is running extra disguesting and im starting to get brown hair algae. So I moved all my powerheads lower, one I pointed toward the center of my rock, one is pointed at the back, and the powersweep and sitting on the mag float against the front right corner of the glass about 1/2 way up. I've noticed with these new nano powerheads they work great but blow the sand around. Anyway what do you think just leave everything as it is? I did a 4 gallon water change. Maybe its just my second algae bloom? Any advice would be great, thanks!

Could you possibly get a picture. Do you know if its diatoms, it sounds like dinoflagellates. You could keep up with water changes, it usually dissapears on its own over time once nutrients are used up. You can also use chaeto in your tank or fuge if you have one to compete for nutrients. Other than that, just scraping, skimming and water changes really is all you can do. Maybe someone else has some other ideas. Good Luck

I was thinking it was diatoms yes, but I noticed they were forming bubbles yesterday, I think thats cyano right? but its not really slimy at all just hairy. Its late so I will post a pic tomorrow. I forgot, when I stirred up my sand bed it had almost like a crust on the top is places is this normal? As for the Chaeto im getting an ro/di, bigger tank, and pump. My current tank is going to be the sump its just going to take me awhile..this hobby isn't cheap haha.

It sounds like you just have the new tank syndrome. I would siphon out as much algae , cyano or what not and keep up with water changes.
