It could have something to do with feeding.

Their getting themselves higher up to recieve more light. This happens with mushrooms that are in crevices or mushrooms that are not getting enough light. I have also seen zoas and palys extend to get more light.

Mine have done that, but they didn't stay that way. Do they extend then completely close up, or just stay extended? If they just stay extended, then try putting them in a low flow area higher in your tank. Move them up slowly so they can get used to the higher levels of light.

Yes I did, I moved them not far from where they were and the next day the did not extend. I don't know why because all of my mushrooms are pretty much in the same area of the tank located at the top.I really can't say why they where extending and now they are not.I also have some of my mushrooms placed on the bottom of the tank and they seem fine.

I guess some are just more particular then others. I have the same issue though honestly. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason lol. I'm just glad that you got it all figured out.

How old are your lights? Once your lights reach their life capacity (even though they are still putting off what you and me clearly see as plenty of light) they will have adverse effects on the creatures that depend on that constant source of energy. Imagine if you, within the course of a year, went from 3 meals a day in January, to 2 meals per day in August, and by November were only eating one meal a day. If you haven't changed anything in the tank and suddenly everything is reaching skyward, this would be the direction I'd look at. (Also, if there is any salt splash on your bulbs, this can clearly spread your spectrum too far for anything at the bottom of the water. Fresh RO water will clean that up nicely)
