+1 to the Reef Octopus. I was running the BH100 in my tank for a while but now I hang it in the sump. The only problem I ever had with it was just that the pump is a little big and looks a little unsightly in the tank. The Octopus performs great though but if I bought another skimmer it would be the Aquac Remora just because its thinner and the pump looks much smaller.

One more thing. The big ol' pump on the Octopus HOB makes for a good makeshift frag rack =]

I was looking at the Aquac Remora too. Looks like I'll be putting up a Hydor slim skim nano skimmer for sale-Lol

I've got a Hydor 240 pointed strictly at the surface, all it does is push the protein around.

Since last post I've moved the 240 so that it's partially (very little) out of the water. It's working wonderfully! The surface is now free of protein :) I'm wondering if I place some sort of sponge filter over the 240 if this will help in removing the protein all together. Of course I'd have to keep it clean :)

The 240 is drawing the water from the surface and distributing it throughout the tank. Maybe now I should reintroduce the skimmer? But it's just so dang big in my tank :( tis why I'm looking at an external HOB.

The reef octo bh-1000 worked great for me. The pump is on the bottom of the skimmer on this model so only an inlet and out pipe go in the tank.

Never had a bad experience with any Reef Octo product, although make sure you gave enough room for them as they are big. For your tank the SWC Mini HOB might work well.
