my skimmer has an air hole in the cap on top of it and its bubbling all over in my sump. This is not a problem but its bubbling up to the bottom of my stand and im worried it will weaken the stand. And not only that but now the pressure is popping the top completely off as it does not screw on... help please!

try adjusting it and also what is the water level? skimmers have an ideal water level and over bubbling can result in improper placement

Bingo. Sounds like your skimmer's water level is too high. There's usually a way, either adjusting the collection cup's height, or adjusting the outlet tube to set the water level for the skimmer.

thanks guys... simple fix i have a coralife needle type skimmer that does not have the original outlet box so i just plumbed it back into the sump but i had the outlet tube under the water and it must have just been causing too much back pressure .

Don't plug the hole, you need that little bit of pressure relief for the skimate to flow right. Any back pressure will mess up the proper function. I found that out the hard way.
