Your description is pretty good. Don't stress a fish with popeye by trying to capture it for quarantine....leave it where it is and make sure your water parameters are correct.

I have a pair of percs myself and they have always been extremely healthy and active. Today I went home for lunch to notice that the smaller of the two has the same problem. I am also of the same opinion to not yank them out of the tank which always causes high stress. All of my parameters are excellent
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrites 0
    Nitrates 0
    Calcium 420
    Phospates 0
    Alkalinity 10 dkh
    Salinity 1.025
    ph 8.4

The most recent additions have been 2 open brain corals and a toadstool leather

The most recent changes have been the installion of a phos-reactor but used for carbon filtration and the addition of a Kent reef supplement(strontium, magnesium, and Molybdenium)

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    Agy,

You're welcome. However, when you say someone bit a lot out of him, are you talking about his eye or are you talking about other parts of his body?

    Baxter,

Popeye is typically caused by some type of injury to the eye and if the water is good, it heals on it's own. Maybe the fish got spooked and ran into a rock or coral, or maybe the fish was recently netted and the net scraped the eye, etc. If only one eye is affected and you are sure that none of your other fish caused the injury, leaving it there is the best best.

While there is a possibility that one of the brains sweepers got him in the eye, I would put that possibility in the low percentages. Keep your parameters in line and keep tabs on your fish.

Are you saying that his eye ball is actually outside of his head or they he has popeye?
