Has anyone used this product? I made a DIY HOB refugium out of a small penguin and was wonderin can I just put this whole packet in there as substrate or is it better for me to follow the dosing schedule as stated on the package? Also, any experiences people have had with this product, please share......Thanks

Fiji Mud is collected from rare mud patches, discovered by science years ago, which are found in clear uncontaminated seawater. These patches typically occur at 40 - 50 feet of cool, clear water just off the coral reef.

Fiji Mud is unique in its ability to release essential minerals and vital nutrients that will allow hard and soft corals to flourish whether you are starting a new refugium or topping up your existing one. This product contains all the major and minor trace elements as they naturally occur as well as an elaborate network of 5-100 micron size organisms that are critical for the success with Acropora and other small polyp stony corals.

Alternate use: this product can also be added directly to your aquarium at the rate of one teaspoon per 100 gallons twice weekly. Mix with tank water and pour directly into water flow, the water will become cloudy but will return crystal clear overnight. This will add the essentials nutrients when no refugium is available.

Todays the day after I put this stuff in my HOB DIY filter converted into refugium and some of my corals are actually closed up like my open brain coral hasnt fattened up like usual but you can see its mouth i guess it would be called more. My Emerald looked like it was tryin to eat my flower pot coral, lil punk at all my bsp, I hope he doesnt start on this. So I cant really tell how its doing but it was opened up pretty nice during most of the day. Half of my yellow polyps are scrunched up. I guess I will see how things look tommorow and update.

Day 2 - Corals still slightly less opened up then usual, possibly adjusting to all the extra nutrients I guess, even though the C-balance I use regularly contains trace elements. My toadstool leather pair has gone into that glossy phase , the one before it sheds, nothing abnormal. My yellow polyps and kenya tree frag arent as extended as usual, mushooms look fine and my zooas actually look more open than usual. Still waiting to see anything remarkable

Day 3 - Finger leather coral not extended and slightly limp, flower pot coal not extended as usual, polyps and zoas WIDE open now, mushrooms are looking good also, green hammer normal, lobed brain normal, toadstool leather still glossy with a couple polyps poking through. I havent really gotten any responses from anyone about the use of the product nor have I found much online as in reviews so this thread is turning into more of a log than anything really. I will keep updating though, perhaps it will be beneficial to someone in the future.

Day 4-5 - Looks like theres some red stuff possibly cyano, only in the bottom layer of the cc in the refugium under the mud layer, Finger leather coral looks dull and weak, not vibrant, possibly about to molt or adjusting. Toadstool back in business. Frogspawn not as open as usual, neither are the yellow polyps. So after five days, I havent seen anything good actually come from using this product. I hope that that my corals are just adjusting and will be back better than ever but so far all I have gotten is some cyano in my fuge along with some other weird cream looking colony or something, and just weak looking coral.
