I know the ocellaris clowns naturally host carpet anemones. I’ve wanted to get a fake anemone (or something that looks like one) and see if the clown will host. Anyone have some experience with theses?
    Elephant Ear Mushroom - Yellow
    Long Tentacle Anemone - White
    Do they last?
Do they shrink? (From being in saltwater)
    Do they fade?

Worth a shot. When researching how to raise clown fry I watched a video of about 10 juveniles hosting a fake nem.

Could be a bunch of reasons, but why not get a real one?

    #1 new tank
#2 if it will host a fake anemone, I don’t have to worry about the care of a real one.

Good points and k+ on waiting for the tank to mature. So many people force anemones to suffer through new tanks or even worse kill them. Such a shame because their life spans are so long. Of course you know this or you wouldn't be waiting. Anyway, good for you.

Plus, I really do think they'll host it. They host all kinds of things

Clowns host things that don't even remotely look like anemones (powerheads), so I don't doubt they'll host a fake anemone.

Great Idea. I was gonna pick up a BTA tomorrow but I'll put it off till I see if this idea works out well. I really want a real BTA but my tank is only about 7 months old.
The only downside I could think of is that the fake stuff tend to accumulate excessive algae growth.

Thanks. Would a video work ;)

Which would the clown be more likely to host? He’s an ora clown, (he even has a slight misbar)
Which would last longer? (Fade, shrink, crake)

Clowns will host mushrooms, zenia, anthelia, leathers, frogspawn, hammers and many more soft and LPS corals.
