fake rock

here are some pics of my new aquascape. it looks so much better in person i dont know why it came out so bad though. but my question to you is i bought a fake piece of liverock and put it in my tank. its the most perfect rock and addition to my tank. but it is white. when and will it turn brown? like liverock color is what i meant. will it tint? i sure hope it does. respond! thanks

the tank looks so much more "full and colorful and more blending in in person. its wierd. these pics make it look bad!!

 

If its "fake", I am assuming its plastic? If it is plastic, it probably wont ever turn brown. It will get green with algae and purple with coraline though.
BTW, I think the aquascape looks good!

 

thanks for the compliment. its not plastic though, its like rock. i dont know what its made out of... its real heavy and is... rock!! haha

 

i think i saw it at pet supplies plus labeled honeycomb rock sold dry.within 3 months it should be several different shades of tan,brown,green,and some coraline starting.next yr it will be like the liverock you buy with all kinds of bugs and corals

So its just dry rock (base)? If so, it only took my base about two to three months to look just like the LR

 

In a couple months it will start turning purple/green/red etc. Within a year, you probably won't be able to tell the difference between that and the other rock.

 

watch your PH, certain "fake" live rock will mess with it if it has not been fully cured.
