You may have read other posts regarding temp in my new red sea max being on high side. 28c 82f . In other peoples experience do the fans you can buy and clip under the hood help reduce temp.. Looking at web site reviews some people belive they do whilst others do not. What do you all think... ps I dont really want to have hood proped up if that can be avoided

Salt spray and calcium carbonate precipitation for that matter can negatively impact equipment so it must be kept at a minimum! Having said that, a fan is a valuable and less costly alternative to a chiller!!!! Evaporational cooling makes a world of difference in combatting high temperature ranges, IMO!
I would definitely invest in some sort of fan for your tank as I have witnessed first hand the beneficial importance of incorporating a fan into your tank regime.

    Hey chap!

The most common/and still powerful computer fans operate at 12V. Is should be possible to get a fan with even lower voltage. If I were You I would by fans made for aquaristic purposes that can stand high humidity and possible short water dip.

Please read this article: click here

    Good luck...

On top of that all water parameters that depend on temp: pH/alk/redox potential/salinity... :-/

true, I think the big benefactor for me is I use NSW and most of my tank comprises either stuff I pulled from the water myself (IE my sand, rock, water, cleaning crew and 1 fish) or the LFS catches them or breeds them in similar water conditions.

the small (free) button polyp colony I got from the LFS has already started opening up nice and happy after bein in the tank about 10 hours. they were only half open at the lfs.

Camilsky thanks for your info as well, your comments I have seen are informative and you are neither snobbish nor demeaning when talking to those of us less informed
