I just received a new favia coral today. It has probably 25-30 eyes.

There are a couple of very small "things" between a couple of the eyes, and they look like they're coming out of the skeleton. They look like a flat fan no more than 1-2 mm in width. They quickly retract and extend like they are capturing small particulates.

At first, I thought they were aiptasia, but they are to flat and the fan is to even (not random tentacles like an aiptasia). Plus, it moves in and out faster and more frequently than any aiptasia I've seen before.

Is there a type of small worm (or similar) that would make its home in an LPS skeleton? Should I be concerned and try to eradicate it before I move it into the DT? The favia is currently in the QT.

I'll try to get a pic tomorrow, but I think it's too small.

    Thanks.

Could be a barnacle? do the fans go in and out repeatedly, or only when your hand is near? Personally i wouldnt worry about it, happens all the time with maricultured corals.

Repeatedly and at random intervals. Wasn't associated with me spooking it or anything like that.

Google images barnacle, thats more than likely what it is, they came in all the time on maricultured (grown in the ocean) corals. Cool tag-a-longs that filter water, free CUC member IMO.
