hey guys and gals... just wanted to say that my aquarium is officially torn down.. once again, i had gotten to the point that i couldn't keep up with the maintenence, and a couple of my fish died, and it started smelling absolutely awful... so today, i emptied it and its most likely going into storage, or being sold... until i move out and get my own house, i won't even consider going back to SW.. for one reason only; i don't want to invest in an RO/DI unit, and i can't keep buying distilled water from the store... at least with freshwater, i can just use regular tap water, after its been dechlorinated and stuff... much cheaper and easier to obtain.. but i don't even know about that... with the way i re-arranged my room, the aquarium is in the way... if i do decide to change back to FW, i'll move it to another room... maybe buy myself a 5 or 10 gallon aquarium and put it on my desk in my room.. in my experience, 55 gallon aquarium are bad news either way you look at it... wrong dimensions for a reef, too small for "the good fish", too big for a number of smaller fish... but yeah, when i get my own place, i'll be able to have a good amount of space for a big tank, and then start it off right.. have a steady job so i can keep maintence up, and buy the right equipment from the get go...sump, fuge, etc...

well, i've said it before, and i'll say it one final time! thanks to everyone for all the great help you've given me! i'll come around from time to time to find out the latest news and products.. 3reef is by far the best forum for saltwater aquariums i've ever seen... biased opinions are few and far between, people don't start post wars over certain companies or methods of filtration or lighting... people don't hate each other because someone doesn't do the exact same thing as someone else... and that's what i really like about 3reef...

well folks, keep the peace, and keep up with the good advice for future new-comers!

Thats too bad...I do sort of agree with the 55 gal...it is an awkward size, I would much rather have a 90 or even 75...

I hope we will cya back on the forums oneday with the saltys again...but hey, there are still freshwater forums here :)
