ok 2 days ago I had put a post about using a buffer and I from this huge storm lost power. Of course it was while I was sleeping and woke up hrs approx 6 according to the neighbor. The fish were streessed got the generator fired up tested water and ph is just hardly reaching 7.8 everything inluding corals are stressed now I am too. Is the norm when the power goes out and tank is off for hrs?

Hi, from your post it seems you are still a little rattled. I can't really make sense of it but if you are asking is it normal for PH to fluctuate if the tank is stagnant for some time then yes it is. The lack of water movement and dissipating oxygen will stress everything.

That is very normal. If you have a air pump, place the air stone for a couple of hrs to re-oxygenate the water. I wouldnt dose anything until your tank has been running for 1-2 days. Luna

I've always used these. It doesn't run when there's electricity. When the power goes off, the batteries automatically turn the pump on. (Since the tube will be in your tank for extended periods of time without having air pushed through it, you want to remove the airstone).

Yup, without the circulation, you wll get a buildup of CO2, which is what causes the pH to drop. When my power went out, I would manually stir the water with my pro-scraper (you can use anything that is tank safe) to cause circulation in the water and release some of the CO2 in the tank, and to help wth some O2 exchange in the tank surface.
