Hey it looks like you're using the thrive products? Or are those another companies product?

    Thanks OFK.

Yeah they're Thrive products. But, I STILL haven't used any of them so I still can't verify the results or usability. I made a profile on their site to begin tracking tank params but life got in the way and just haven't kept really on top of maintenance.

I did decide to go with red sea coral pro again for my salt so I haven't needed to dose for what I have with my current stock.

    ... I'll get there eventually...

few recent pics. did a good cleaning last night. realized I haven't put up a FTS in a while. working and being away from home quite a bit last few months caused some coral losses. not really much coral left at this point... looking to turn that around in the coming months.

On a good note, the mandarin has not been shy about eating frozen bloodworms and mysis during feeding time which is excellent. Otherwise he's happily hunting about for bugs.

Oddly, the puffer started a strange habit of sifting the sand bed. He takes a big scoop and will then swim around while sand drops from his gills over the next min or so. I've had him for a few years, he appears completely normal. I've witnessed him eating some CUC members and end up with a mouthful of sand. I'm guessing he finally realized there is some tasty stuff in there.

Have you seen those weird patterns some type of buffers make in the sand during spawning season? The pattern is like crop circles, maybe your puffers is trying to phone home. Mandarin looks fat and happy.

I did see that article. Strange huh?! I like puffers, they have soo much personality they're hard not to love. Mine is getting a little aggressive, he bit me when I was basting off the rockwork the other night just because he thinks he's the boss now.

Funny thing, I was doing some work the tank on Dec and he got scared from a movement I did and he flew outta the tank and splat on the floor! I didn't see him but I heard the blip he made when he launched from the water and heard the splat, when he smacked and stuck to the wood floor behind the tank. I quickly picked him up and thew him back into the tank quick! He had some dust and cat hair stuck to him for a while, but he was just fine. lol

I used to care for a large one at a small public aquarium, he was always squirting water at me begging for food. Food was pretty much anything that fell in the tank.

I'm looking forward to focusing on the tank the next few months. Work, time off away from home and other life priorities have taken priority over the tank the last few months and it shows. I've lost some of the nice pieces I've acquired due to lack of maintenance.

I've planned for a few steps to help.

    1. I've further increased the efficiency of my water change process and plan to increase the frequency schedule as well.

    2. Think I'm gonna buy a Jebao WP10 pump from Fishstreet. I assume it'll be plenty since folks are running 2 WP25s on 100+ gal tanks with great results.

    3. My puffer has pretty much ate my entire CUC over the last year. I plan to order another one soon.

    4. Gonna get a frag rack or two to help with acclimation of new buys. I initially thought I had a bunch of good places that frag plugs would fit in my rockwork but it turns out I could realistically only a handful. I have BRS gel glue but have been hesitant to use it for the new frags as I don't plan on using the same spots for acclimation as the final spots; that combined with too much or too little flow and or light has given me more challenges.

    5. I'll be spending a bit more time at home due to a few variables, winter weather, work hours and so forth.

The tanks not in bad shape by any means my fish are fat, happy and never been better, I'm at my limit with 5. The little coral I have is thriving.

I'm just looking fwd to being able to focus more on coral care again now that I can.

So I pulled the trigger and just ordered a Jebao WP-10 from fishstreet.

Hopefully it'll provide the right flow for my tank. It'll be great if it really goes to work at blasting the detritus from my rockwork like the MP's do for most folks. I'm constantly blasting the rocks with a baster and they're always producing gunk, always.

I'm assuming one unit will provide enough gusto for my tank to give it a nice back-and-forth wave action. If it doesn't quite do the job, I'm not opposed to buying another unit later down the road given the great price point. From what I've read, I think the 10 will be enough for my 29 tho. We'll see. I'll report as soon as it's wet!
