I couldn't find any threads on these guys, let alone much information on the internet. I was wondering if anyone has experinece keeping these guys?

I understand their behavior is more like that of hawkfish, which is how they got their latin name. It seems they prefer low flow and deeper tanks, and i can't seem to fine definitive answers on whether or not they eat like true anthias, pseudanthias sp.

Seems to fit the personality of some of the other fish i'm interested in stocking; timid and very appreciative of caves and hiding places.

Advanced Aquarist provided a good read on them (as usual):

I was wondering what would be a realistic minimum tank size for one of these given size, general habits, and feeding behavior?

LOL. I don't know what's going on lately but I'm seeing a lot of sinister looking fish lately. On the link you provided at the very bottom that fish looks like he's about ready to toss someone out of the tank.

I have seen one in a DT at a LFS. Beautiful fish that I would lvoe to own someday.

Im still not ready to set up my new 90gallon so I have a ways to go, need to drywall the room still :/ , but something tells me our tanks might end up somewhat similar in the end lol.

Did you ever get the Potters angel?

Haha similar taste I guess, I just like fish that aren't seen everyday.

Unfortunately none of my vendors have been able to get in small (2") potters Angels yet. They said there should be more coming in after winter. I'll definitely post a thread when I get mine

Yea When I looked for one a few years back it took like 6 months to get it in and I ended up settling on the flame angel because of it. Must be a seasonal import.

I was looking at getting a school of Fatheads and my LFS talked me out of it. My LFS stated the same thing you all said above, they like to hide in the rocks and stay towards the bottom of the tank. It's not worth the money to me to have them if I am barely going to see them. I wish I had the coin to drop on some Blotched Anthias!

I saw them in a DT that was a bright LED lit reef at a lfs. Seemed out in the open a lot to me. No sure if it was because of the otehr tankmates or if it was jsut acclimated to all the foot traffic for so long.

They can definitely be acclimated to brighter lighting, it just takes time and may make them less likely to eat at first.
Unless its a huge tank, they generally do better alone. Once acclimated they become pretty active fish especially during feeding.

    Anyone else have an expereince?
