Fathers day gift

I just put in my sump Octopus XP 1000 sss in sump skimmer. It is big but silent compare to my old one. I put everything together hope right. It works in 11" water level. Two lines on the skimmer shows between 11 and 14, kind of deep. That clear silencer on the side was not sure if that clear pipe inside should be up or down, but I do not think it is my problem now. The red valve is halfway open. After 3 hours still pumps a lot of water. I know it needs to break down. Did I do everything right. Please let me know.Thanks.

 

very nice add i have a bubble magus nac6 skimmer and it took about 2 weeks to break in once it did i was able to fine tune it should be the same case for you

 

Open the gate valve all the way and let it be.

That is what I did. Looks like it helped. Will see. But Just so I know for the future. That valve adjust level of the water in the skimmer right or how much water goes thru skimmer. Im kind of confused.Pump <g/h ratio> pumps water so what does valve really does?

 

It is 24 hours. When I opend valve more it works fine. Thanks again.I can see already 1/2 " nasty dark yellow skimate. Like I told you before min. and max. water level marked on skimmer is 11 to 14". But I guess it is fine. Kind of strange. I always heard and read that they should work in 6 to 8. What do you guys think?
