I bought this favia frag about a month ago.

I've noticed that it is in decline with polyp dieoff around the perimiter. I had it about half way up in the tank on a rock. I have since moved it to the sand bed and started target feeding it with Rod's food disolved in a glass of tank water. Any other suggestions?

In my experience with Favia it could be too much light and or flow. Moving it lower and target feeding should bring it back around. Also was there anything else around it? Normally favia usually win the battle, but thought I would ask.

Is that favia? It kind of looks like blasto to me... I'm no pro though but if it's blasto maybe it wants more lighting? What kind of lights do you have?

I guess I should of looked better at the picture also. May not be a favia after all. Looks like he is running t5 which shold be enough depending on how many.

No, nothing else for 4-5 inches around it. Hopefully the lower light on the sandbed and the target feeding help.

Well, the guy at the LFS told me it was a favia. Doesn't mean he was right. How can I tell the difference between a favia and blasto? They look kind of similar. Any difference in care.

I have 6x54W T5s with individually contoured reflectors.

What kind of corals do you have that are 4-5 inches away from it.

I read that sand can irritate the Favia. It prefers to be on a rock.
