So I got this frag about a month ago and its already making new heads and moving down onto the rock I glued the frag to. One problem. Now it looks like a tiny green grass yard is growing out of the skeleton of the favia. I have taken it out popped the frag off of the rock, no algae there. Looked and it was growing out of the frag. I ripped everything I could out with some tweezers but alas in about a week the forest is back.

Anyway to get rid of it for good?

    Thanks.

If it is GHA you will need to erradicate as you normally would for GHA. Removing the algae manually is the best way to let your CUC help. you will need hermit or Emerald crabs to get it out of where it is at.

If it is hair algae, and most likely the spot where it is growing out of is a dead area, right? Since it is growing out of the skeleton and you really can't get the roots out completely (proved by the way it grew back) the only way you can completely get rid of it is to either seal off the spot with super glue or cut off the offending area.

I have used the Super glue several times with complete success, after a reasonable amount of time the super-glued area usually gets grown over depending on the type of coral.

I have a similar problem with Zoa, but gha is around every polyp. Emerald is ignoring that one somehow. I usually see him in the morning crawling around my frags, eating, but not from zoa. Im thinking to pick up extra one and see if it helps.
