What a bummer... My Wrasse has vanished. I moved all of the aquascape around, but he is definately gone. Sux, he was my favorite one. I am thinking the Tang chased him out of the top and the cat got him...cuz there is no trace anywhere of a carcass.

I guess the Tang gets donated back to the LFS...bad buy on my part. Moral of the story- Tangs are freakin' mean!

On a lighter note, my hobby has infected my dad, he is buying a complete 125g set-up from a friend for 600 bucks... fish, wave maker, rock and all and all. I am getting first dibs on some of the live stock for helping him find and set up the tank.

About your Wrasse, Mine likes to hide in holes in the LR, I once also thought i lost one. For 4 days i looked, and moved rocks, nothing, then about 10 days later from no where he showed up. They like to hide, sometimes for long periods of time. I even had a Flame angel hide so well i thought he was gone for 4 days, then he was there. Don't give up, however i have found that moving your LR when you don't need to isn't so good.

Tangs as a whole aren't very aggressive towards other species of fish. The aggression takes effect when you add another Tang(especially same species) to the tank!
Yes, it could be one of those instances outside the norm as that could happen with any fish. Wrasses tend to keep to themselves, and they can be very timid. Possibly, the addition of more rockwork offering the Wrasse a better sense of comfort might help.
What food are you feeding your fish? You might want to try changing food or add another kind to entice the wrasse to come out.
SpecailEd brought up a good point as well. Wrasses will bury themselves in the substrate or liverock, sometimes for a day or so with no traces of them. I have a Six-line Wrasse and there will be days, as you are encountering, where I will not see him for over 24 hours. Even with the addition of food(Mysis and brine shrimp, Marine Cuisine) it will not come out so I figured my Starfish ate it or it jumped out of my tank. Then, all of the sudden out it comes...
Just keep your eyes open! How long has it been since you last saw your Wrasse anyway?

    Don't give up hope.

My yellow coris disappeared for about 4-5 days a couple of weeks ago. He reappeared out of the blue for a bit and then did a "Houdini" act and disappeared again. I haven't seen him for about a week.

    I'm hanging in there :)

I had a purple tang that was meaner than Satan himself. They are one of the more aggressive tangs and not necessarily only towards other tangs. I'd never keep another one. I agree about the wrasse possibly hiding though so don't count it out yet.

Your tang experience is different from mine then.
Just try to add any other kind of fish after a tang has been in the tank for a while and most times, WWIII erupts.
That's why I make the tang, the last fish addition to any tank I set up.

I have not seen him Since Wednesday morning of last week. I feed them Mysis shrimp.
I moved my rocks around because my Nitrates were through the roof and I wanted to make sure he wasn't dead somewhere (turns out I was just LONG overdue for a good cleaning). Also, the Goby has moved the substrate and base rock causing a couple collapsed areas. I needed to make room for expansion and fix the damage.
I hope my situation mirrors you guys'... the tank really doesn't seem the same without him!
It has disappeared before and I thought it to have jumped, but it came back all of a sudden... but never for this long. I hope I didn't block the exit of the cave if he was in there... man.... what to do what to do...
Should I just leave it alone or try to find him? If I did block the exit he's doomed...right?

I would just leave everything be. If the fish is dead, it will have been consumed by your clean up crew by now. If the fish isn't dead, then it will show up when it wants to.

I had the experience of a wrasse being horrible and mean. Ate through my inverts like a smorgasboard, killed some fish and had others to scared to even come out. Luckily i got him out and traded him for the foxface i have now i have a nice calm tank again.
