i've had mine for about 4 months now and it's doing great so far. I would do a water change at least once a week (good for all your fishes and corals), feed it phytoplankton, zooplankton, and rotifers. And, just to be sure, check the parameters once a week. That's what I do for mine and it's always out with its crown looking happy. :)

Thats what I was thinking as well. I be sure to keep my little guy well fed. But if anything was ever missing he would be the first suspect. so far so good, yours will likely starve in an aquarium that small. I would be sure to target feed him and make sure he is getting enough food. Good luck he's a beautiful starfish

Check Magnesium Calcium and Alkalinity and the emerald crab probably attacked the duster

Might be too small of a system to support 'piggyback' animals like featherdusters (ie they need micronutrients and such... so unless you are feeding the tank food for 'filter feeders' they are probably not getting their requirements from such a small closed system)

I've had them lose their crown and survive, but I've never seen them leave the tube and survive.

This is the second time in a thread I've noticed you commenting that you are picking things up off the beach and dropping it in a tank

Enjoy the hobby but please do some research before taking creatures from their natural habitat and dropping it into a fairly young tank.

    good luck.

K+ to that, it may even be illegal... just something to think about.

In some cases it may be illegal, but what would concern me more is getting a disease or a bad hitch hiker in your tank.
