    Are they photosynthetic or filter feeders?

    I placed mine in the rocks under a over hang, will it be okay there?

    filter feeders. If it doesn't like the spot you put it in it wont attach and may move.

    Yes, Filter feeders. I have had mine since the beginning. I feed mine Kent Micro-Vert. I add 1 tsp twice a week. Check the dosage for your sized tank first. I always underdose everything.
