I have 90gal tank and my feather dusters are everywhere on the rock and a few in the sand roughly about 100 of them or so. Is that to many? I know they are filter feeders, but can you have too much of a good thing? They are all small but not all the same kind (some have a red tint) and piggybacked their way in on live rock.

Do feather dusters spawn quickly? I would like to get one in my tank but dont really want to be concerned about them multiplying like rabbits.

I wouldn't be concerned with having a lot of feather dusters, they're great IMO. They just sit around not hurting anything, filtering stuff out of the water, if you have a lot of them they're helping keep your water clean (or helping clean up from overfeeding :) ).

I wouldn't be concerned about having too many. If there is too many for the tank to support some will die off, and if there is an abundance of food they will multiply quickly. They balance out with the tank, the same as other hitchhiking clean up crew (copepods, amphipods, other types of worms, ect)

The big ones do not, the smaller ones that you would get as a hitch hiker seem to spawn quickly, but not as rapidly as GSP or Xenia or something like that.

I sincerely dislike the big ones. They are poop factories. GAWD they poop a lot!
