I was expecting to get a few feather dusters on each piece of live rock I bought when I started my tank but good lord! These things are multiplying like crazy. Some are growing from unnoticeable to 1/4" in diameter within 2 days. I searched the threads but I can't find a hard line answer. Are feather dusters good or evil? I am planning on starting to add some coral frags next week but I don't want to get them if they will be doomed by dusters!

for the most part feather dusters are ornamental and pose no threat.

Feather dusters are filter feeders and feed on suspended matter in the pelagic areas of your tank!!! Very good to have and beneficial as well.

They spawn. They are good filter feeders. When they catch up on filtering your water they will start to slow down on reproducing. All things just take a little time to balance in a reef aquarium.
