What do you feed a long tentacle anemone?
I got one and need to feed it. For some reason sorta assumed that it would catch left over food from the fish.

Also side note. It hosted my black damsel. It's neat. Guy at store said it would host my clownfish. I've since learned that's not true.

Is this a Black Domino Damsel/2 spot Black Damsel?

You let it eat mysis when you feed. Or you can give it tiny pieces of raw sea food. I prefer scallops and fish.

    Thanks for reply
    2 spot black damsel.

I'm a nOOb with anemones. How do you feel them?
I can get food tomorrow. Right now I have frozen brine shrimp and veggie flakes.
Should I get frozen scallops? And then what? Just put a piece in the center? Was hoping it's host would feed it.
I read tomato clowns are good for long tentacles too.
I'm sorta new and could use direction or guidance.
    Thanks in advance

I used to get fresh scallops one or two from the grocery store once a month. Same with fish. Anemones under significant lighting do not need to be feed often.

Always make sure food is thawed and do not over feed, tiny pieces.

Two spots damsels are mean little suckers. It will be interesting to see if the clown's aggressive personality will eventually force the Two Spot out.

Great info. Thank you for your reply!
It's pretty neat when you turn the lights on in morning and it's all closed up.

I got some dried shrimp and hand fed him 2 of those.
My follow up question can you over feed them? Will they eat themselves to death or will they stop eating once full.
Have to admit it's cool feeding them. I've read only need to feed them once a week.
So how much do I feed and how often?
Can I feed them a couple dried shrimps each day?
Anemone is about 4 inches long when all spread out. And the dried shrimps aren't that big.

Darn it's not letting me add a photo. When you start a thread you can add a picture. But not replying?
    I'm using my iPhone.
Wanted to show the anemone. Also my 2 spotted damsels love it

First, I wouldn't give anything freeze-dried food; it's harder to digest, and especially for a nem which lacks digestive enzymes.

Second, yes you can over-feed, which can cause internal bacterial infection.

Lastly, a nem under sufficient lighting rarely requires feeding, especially if it's hosting and/or if fish are being fed in the same tank.

To add a pic, upload it to a hosting site such as Photobucket, then use "insert image" ([IMG]) to link it into your post. :)

I used to feed mine about every other week one or two small pieces of scalop. It hosed my tomato clown which would also deliver the occasional bit of food. Water quality, stability and lighting are the keys to success.
