Ahh, that makes sense, I always liked the extra length to help make up for space lost to the bubble trap baffles.

Robman - no worries, I know what ya mean... I actually have another 400W pendent I was going to put over the tank but decided it was overkill

are you using acrylic or glass for your baffles ? i heard that acrylic can actually expand over time and loosen the seams on a glass tank. is that true

Yeah, the problem lies more in the fact that silicone does not adhere well to the acrylic and is therefore subject to more stress... find a local glass shop and have the baffles cut and the edges ground smooth for ya, should cost you about $4 per baffle

    Looking like a good start.
How stable is it without water in it?
If you lean against it or grab the hood does it move or tilt at all?

so far its pretty sturdy, the cross member on top is a scrap piece that I clamped up to see what is coming. the stand is soild but i will add a center support in the center on the back side but not the front so access to the sump is easier.

looks very good! think again about drilling - that nice of stand would really look great with the clean look you get without visible plumbing. can get cheap bits from gl*******s.com
