Ok, so I now have a 3 inch Dogface Puffer. He loves eating clams on the half shell and krill. I would like to add some variety to his diet. I have tried squid but he doesnt take to it. Any suggestions?

Although I have not had a dog faced puffer, I have had several other types of puffers. Krill is what they eat best...unless you want to start them on live food. But once you go that route it is much harder to get them to eat frozen food. I have found one flaked food which all my fish seem to eat. It is called Aquadine. I'm not sure why they like it better, but they do. Only a few LFS carry it here, but perhaps you will find one in your area.

Equipment: 150 gal. rectang. 48" X 24" x 36" high; reservoir filtration; Eurofil 125; 2 - Magdrive 950 water pumps; 200W heater; protein skimmer; ultraviolet sterilizer; 3 sets of power compact 96W light
Livestock: Porcupine puffer, lunare wrasse, blue tang, yellow tang, tomato clown, kuhli loach, hermit crab

Thanks for the input. I don't use live food in any of our tanks, but I will try the Nori...

Mine always liked Siver sides, Beef heart and on occasion live mollies or Gold fish.

Live freshwater fish especially goldfish are horrible for saltwater fish

I stuck with Krill on ours never had any issues with him

I used to feed my puffer frozen scallops, and shrimp. He used to destroy the frozen scallops in no time.

saltwater fish live usually live around 15 years baring a accident. but there is no way of knowing how old they are when you get them. you can guess with the size of them but that method isn't really reliable
