Ok I have a question. I have a newly set up tank. It's got very little fish in there but a friend gave me a massive sun coral. I feed the sun coral on baby glass shrimp from the sea. When I feed the coral some of the left over shrimp get into the tank and fall on the sandbed. Because I have to feed this massive coral so much every time I feed it I get a little algae bloom. I didn't have fish in there before but I just put two in to eat the left over shrimp that floats around.

My question is this. If I feed the sun coral and the fish eat ALL the left over waste will I still get an algae bloom? Or is it just not possible to keep a massive meat eating coral of this size without cyno blooms.

What kind of clean up crew do you have? snails, crabs, etc.? This will be way more beneficial to preventing excess nutrients into the system than hoping the fish eat it all...

Are you target feeding your Sun coral? If not, I would do so as that will eliminate excess nutrients being added to your water. Try adding carbon as well, periodically!

Yea I'm target feeding. Anyone else have a sun coral? What are you feeding it?
