Maybe I am over thinking this but I have a blue jaw for about 6 months now. He is in a 150 mixed reef with a couple cleaner shrimp and some peppermints. I bought some frozen krill to feed him but now I am thinking that might teach him that the cleaners and the peppermints are food. Am I over thinking this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm thinking your shrimp are probably at risk in the long run - I don't think feeding the krill would cause a quick demise - just my .02

Well, blue jaws are usually considered reef safe. I think they will recognize shrimp as prey regardless of what you feed them, unless you keep them well fed.

Everything I have read says as long as they are well fed they wont go after anything. I know there is always the exception to the rule but I am 6 months in and so far so good.

I have to agree with the others- the blue-jaw will eventually see them as a quick snack. What you feed him is irrelevant.

Lots of animals are considered "reef safe", which is not the same as "invert-safe".

Fish love live food; anything that will fit into his mouth will most likely become lunch.
