Since feeding feelers usually come out at night for corals or after lights out.....what is the best time to feed them with a suspension type food or with mysis or brine. Shoule you wait an hour or so after lights out or if you feed while lights on will there be leftover food suspended in the water for them to eat?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You can turn off the power heads and filter for a short period of time to allow them longer to feed.

What filter feeders are referring to specifically? If soft corals or sponges they can be feed with the lights on, initially lps will take food at night but can be trained easily to take it during the day ( but I would not consider lps to be filter feeders).

Feed the food after the lights are out other wise your fish will consume what they can and the rest will end up in your filtration.

    Hello bpitts4 !

I personally target feed when the lights are on – after all the tank is for the families entertainment. Aside from that I have a MP40 (Echotech) in the sump that’s on a timer - it fires up late into the night and stirs up all the sediment in the sump and feed the filter feeders when the house is asleep.

My children like to see the anemones eat (shrimp, lobster, fish etc.) I even target my polyps with a feeding syringe and I use both canned food as well as fresh ground up fish – they love it.

I feed my entire tank everyday. First feed the fish some pellets. And break off a piece of mysis or rods whatever day it is. Then once I. break off a piece I put hands in the tank so the corals know it is about time to eat. Then I turn off all powerheads and skimmer and return pump. Feed everything. wait about 20 minutes let everything eat. Then turn on 1 powerhead stir up the food. Then off again. 1 powerhead the. Off. Then about an hour plug everything back up. No wasted food
